Automated Fleet fuel management systems
Have you considered an automated fleet fuel management system for your in house fueling sites?
If you have your own in house fuelling sites for your fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment and you are still using pump attendants with clipboards to control and record the fuel issues to your vehicles then quite honestly you are not monitoring and controlling your fuel issues efficiently.
With today’s technology fuel issues to your fleet of vehicles can be automated to the point where you can issue fuel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 365 days a year, without the need for fuel attendants on your site and without locking your fuel pumps.
Automated fuel monitoring systems
Yes technology is a wonderful thing when used correctly to automate everyday tasks, and in today’s competitive marketplace with the cost of fuel rising continuously, it makes sense to automate and tightly control the fuel issues to your fleet of vehicles.
Imagine setting up a database once on a computer for the vehicles within your fleet and setting parameters for the tank capacity, fuel type, fueling times and days of the week for each vehicle, and validating the hour meter or mileage on each transaction, and being able to suspend fueling to a certain vehicle or department with the tick of a box in this software.

Imagine defining a limit of 100 litres per week for example on a certain vehicle within the fleet, and knowing that this vehicle will only be allowed to consume 100 litres within that time-frame no matter how many times it fills, and doing this any vehicle or piece of plant or equipment in the fleet, such as a lawnmower having a limit of 10 litres over the period of a month, all defined within the database on a computer in your office.
This and much more is possible with the system we offer, giving complete control over the fuel issues on your in house fuelling sites, and giving you complete control of the fuel management for your fleet.
And as this database in the office is updated so is a remote unit on the fuel island which goes about its daily tasks of controlling and monitoring the fuel issues and then storing this data so that it may be downloaded back to the office PC for reporting purposes.
Of course the remote unit on the fuel island does not need to communicate with the office PC for every transaction and indeed the office PC only needs to communicate with the fuel island for updates to the database and downloads for reporting etc.
The office computer can be used for other tasks 99% of the time and does not need to be dedicated to the task of fuel management, indeed the systems operator only needs to work with the system for maybe 15 to 30 minutes a day depending on the size of the fleet and the amount of fuel sites controlled by this system.
As a matter of fact our fuel island system will automatically report certain errors detected by the system, for example should one of the electronic sensors fail on the island the system will automatically contact service technicians via an SMS message over the mobile cellular phone network.
It will also contact a member of your staff with the same message should you wish, you simply enter the mobile phone number into the software on the office PC and the system takes care of the rest, keeping you updated of any problems the system detects whilst running its daily tasks, and of course you can update this contact number at any time.
And one other thing, This system can be controlled from a local office or an office situated across the country somewhere, these systems communicate using mobile cellular communication and can therefore operate almost anywhere nowadays, the units can even be mounted on a portable fuel bowser in the field.
We also use fibre optic communication for areas where cellular communication is not available such as in underground mining installations, we normally then convert back to cellular communications when available such as at the surface on underground mining installations. This once again allows the system operator to control and update the system from a friendly clean office environment many miles away.
So if you’re a fleet manager controlling fuel issues to a small, medium or large fleet with you own in house fuelling stations then you must understand the advantages of using an automated fleet fuel management and fuel monitoring system in today’s marketplace.
